Time to get the boat out 2009-06-05 8:12:04 AM
The weekend is here and it looks like I have got some free time, yay! I just finished up the single page site and logo design for 3V Dalls , along with a complete redesign for Childress Bakery and a new site for Main Events Catering. Set up the domain and a placeholder page for a new grill that will be opening up down in Childress, TX at their Municipal Golf Course. They will get some photos and a menu to me later this month so I can go ahead and set up a single page site for them. Have a few more on the phone who may be coming onboard but for this weekend at least, it looks like I am going to have some free time to go bass fishing. :)

sites, logos, and tornados 2009-05-16 9:49:00 AM

I am really pleased with how Raff's site turned out. It's funny how those things work. I had started on the design with earth tones, and somehow it morphed into the blue-gray with gold. Looks better than where I was originally going with it.

Burba Landscape hauled their logo design to the t-shirt shop, not realizing it was the web version, which was not high enough grade to print. The shop owner attempted to redraw the design, which was pretty basic. What came out ..... well... it took a lot of imagination to figure out it was a guy pushing a lawnmower. I made them a new logo and set it with the needed contact info, etc, to make it spread across the backs of the t-shirt. They said they'd send me one, so I'll be watching my mailbox. :)

We were narrowly missed by another major storm that produced a tornado last night. That's the second time this season that one (or three!) has skirted by our area. We just keep getting rain, rain, and more rain.

Cleaning out the cobwebs now 2009-05-05 2:33:07 PM

After 2 days of surviving on Diet Dr Pepper, Triscuits, and eye drops, I've gotten the new site up and running. I can't believe I let it go this long. For years I would spend 10-12 hours a day on the computer designing websites and advertising, but the last few years I've had to spend so much time at the proverbial "day job" that I let everything be pushed to the side. Now that I'm out of the clock punching world again, and able to spend time in front of the screen, I'm pretty embarassed to have let things go for so long. Oh I still have my regular clients, and a few new ones that came from word of mouth, but I haven't actively sought out new customers in 4 years.

That's about to change, and not a moment too soon either. :)

In other news, it is raining for the 5th straight day here in west Texas. Surely that's a sign of the Apocalypse.

Busy week ahead 2009-05-04 7:34:28 PM

There's a post hole digger by the back door and 48 orange Xs on the ground that are waiting for me outside. On my desk are 3 new websites and a full page color ad I need to get done. I also have to deliver a washer and dryer to my mom's house, get my car to the shop, pass out 30 Avon catalogs, and work on the now empty flowerbed in front of the house. Just thinking about it all makes me want to go back to bed!

Our housewarming party went well, despite only 6 of the 24 invited guests showing up. The crazy thing is, the ones who came were the ones who had to make a long drive! The offer of free Shiner, steaks, and seafood drew in guests as far as Keller (a good 5 hour drive!) but failed to entice the locals who only had a 10 minute drive over. Go figure. We look like alcoholics now, with a nearly full keg of Shiner in the kitchen and a few cases worth of assorted beers in the fridge. The unclaimed steaks will of course go onto our own plates over the next few months, but neither of us drink much so it's gonna take a long time to kill off that keg.
